Directions to Pulpit Rock
Pulpit Rock Astronomical Park – Directions
From Allentown–Bethlehem
- Get onto U.S. 22 or I-78 and head west.
- About 25 miles west of Allentown, take the Route 143 exit (Lenhartsville).
- Turn right onto Route 143 south.
- Turn right onto old Route 22.
- Travel 3.1 miles to Reservoir Road at the bottom of a hill.
- Turn right onto Reservoir Road and go to the end.
- Pass through the gate (key required or attend gate time events).
- Follow gravel road 2000 ft, then bear right.
- Cross the small bridge and bear left.
- Continue up winding gravel and paved sections.
- Proceed to the summit observatory area.
From East of Allentown–Bethlehem
- Take I-78 west past Allentown.
- Exit at Route 143 (Lenhartsville).
- Turn right onto Route 143 south.
- Turn right onto old Route 22.
- Continue to Reservoir Road and follow the same final approach above.
From South of Allentown–Bethlehem
- Take Route 309 north to I-78 west.
- Follow I-78 west toward Lenhartsville.
- Take Route 143 exit and continue as above.
From Western Lehigh County
- Take I-78 west.
- Exit at Route 143 (Lenhartsville).
- Follow Route 143 south to old Route 22.
- Continue to Reservoir Road and follow final approach.
From West of Hamburg, PA
- Take I-78 east to Exit 30 (Hamburg).
- Travel through Hamburg to old Route 22 east.
- Continue to Reservoir Road.
- Turn left and follow the final approach to the summit.
