Directions to Pulpit Rock

Pulpit Rock Astronomical Park – Directions

From Allentown–Bethlehem

  1. Get onto U.S. 22 or I-78 and head west.
  2. About 25 miles west of Allentown, take the Route 143 exit (Lenhartsville).
  3. Turn right onto Route 143 south.
  4. Turn right onto old Route 22.
  5. Travel 3.1 miles to Reservoir Road at the bottom of a hill.
  6. Turn right onto Reservoir Road and go to the end.
  7. Pass through the gate (key required or attend gate time events).
  8. Follow gravel road 2000 ft, then bear right.
  9. Cross the small bridge and bear left.
  10. Continue up winding gravel and paved sections.
  11. Proceed to the summit observatory area.

From East of Allentown–Bethlehem

  1. Take I-78 west past Allentown.
  2. Exit at Route 143 (Lenhartsville).
  3. Turn right onto Route 143 south.
  4. Turn right onto old Route 22.
  5. Continue to Reservoir Road and follow the same final approach above.

From South of Allentown–Bethlehem

  1. Take Route 309 north to I-78 west.
  2. Follow I-78 west toward Lenhartsville.
  3. Take Route 143 exit and continue as above.

From Western Lehigh County

  1. Take I-78 west.
  2. Exit at Route 143 (Lenhartsville).
  3. Follow Route 143 south to old Route 22.
  4. Continue to Reservoir Road and follow final approach.

From West of Hamburg, PA

  1. Take I-78 east to Exit 30 (Hamburg).
  2. Travel through Hamburg to old Route 22 east.
  3. Continue to Reservoir Road.
  4. Turn left and follow the final approach to the summit.
